Winter is Coming: Carpets inspired by wintertime

This month we're taking our inspiration from the winter season. Yes, winter is coming and with it the need to hibernate and hunker down until the weather becomes more agreeable in Spring.

Of course, a carpet has to work all the year-round, and one doesn't change one's flooring with the seasons as some do with their wardrobes. What we're focusing on are those carpets that are especially cosy and who draw their hues from the colder season.

We start with Brockway Carpets on their Orion Twist range which is according to the makers themselves "Practical and stylish, the ever-popular Orion, represents affordable comfort and warmth combined with resilience and durability in a subtly varied palette." It's made using 80% wool and 10% acrylic and 10% polyester. It means this carpet is durable and ideal for heavy domestic use, i.e. families. It is available in 16 natural colours.

Sensationally deep - Cormar Carpets

Next, we have Cormar Carpets Sensation range. The clue is the name as the aim here is for comfort of the most luxurious kind. It is a synthetic carpet made from polypropylene but do not let this put you off if you usually opt for a wool carpet. This carpet is ideal for bedrooms and what better way to start your wintery day by sinking your feet into this warm and welcoming deep pile carpet.

Where inspiration begins with Crucial Trading

This example is from their sisal range of floor coverings called Oriental Platinum. Sisal is a plant fibre which means your floor is going to be a natural-looking as natural can get. It's tough too and ideal for busy homes with lots of foot traffic so ideal for lounges, stairs and hallways. It's natural colouring lends itself well to a range of different interior styles, from dark Autumnal colours as seen in the main image to white walls and wood furniture.

Crucial Trading also has a bespoke rug building service where rugs can be made, in a size of your choosing, using the natural materials they work with and with a vast array of border and piping options.
